Queensland Police found human remains under a backyard cubby house in Bethania and charged two people with murder in the 2022 disappearance of Chad Steven Bishop. In Manhattan, Judge Gregory Carro postponed Luigi Mangione’s September state murder trial after his federal guilty plea, and set a double-jeopardy briefing schedule. Charlotte-Mecklenburg charged Floyd Long with first-degree murder after skeletal remains of Shaquina Latavia Harris were found off Statesville Road; a judge denied bond. Tyronne Brazille remained in Memphis awaiting extradition after police say he shot Lanessa Bradford in a Baton Rouge park and drove with her body in the passenger seat. Overnight in Brooklyn, a 30-year-old woman was stabbed in Lincoln Terrace Park and died at hospital; NYPD was still seeking a shirtless man in gray sweatpants. Identity of the Brooklyn victim had not been released in this window.
Remains Found Under Bethania Cubby House
Queensland Police charged Courtenay Williams, 52, of Bethania, and Carlie Rochelle Mordue, 45, of Windaroo, with murder and interfering with a corpse after detectives executing a search warrant on Old Trafford Road, Bethania, found human remains in a box in a shallow grave under a backyard cubby house. Police believe the remains are those of Chad Steven Bishop, who was 46 when he was reported missing from Beenleigh in March 2022. Formal identification and cause of death were still pending autopsy. Both defendants are remanded in custody. They did not enter a plea when the matters were mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Next mention is September 7. Both are presumed innocent.
Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said a recent tip led Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch to the property on Monday. He said police moved the cubby house to reach that part of the yard, and that the people living there now were not involved in the burial. Court documents allege the pair murdered Bishop in a Beenleigh townhouse on or about March 2, 2022, then moved the body. Queensland Police Service.
A four-year missing-person file now has remains, two defendants, and an ID still waiting on the pathologist. Treat the name as what police believe, not as a completed identification.

Mangione State Trial Put On Hold
New York State Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro on Monday postponed Luigi Mangione’s state murder trial, which had been set to start September 8, after Mangione pleaded guilty Friday in federal court to stalking counts and admitted shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, 50, in December 2024. Carro ordered Manhattan prosecutors to respond by October 9 to a defense motion seeking dismissal of the state second-degree murder and weapons charges on double-jeopardy and constitutional grounds. Next state appearance is December 10. Federal sentencing is December 18. Federal prosecutors have said they will seek life.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has said it will litigate the motion and remains committed to seeking justice for Thompson’s family. The September trial date is dead. What remains is a briefing fight over whether New York can still try him after the federal admission.

Harris Remains Found, Long Denied Bond
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police charged Floyd Morris Long, 45, with first-degree murder, larceny of a dog, and concealing or failing to report a death in the killing of Shaquina Latavia Harris, 29. Skeletal remains and matching belongings were found in woods off Statesville Road. Long was charged Saturday and denied bond Monday by Judge Roy Wiggins in Mecklenburg County Superior Court. He is presumed innocent. Harris’s dog, a long-haired Yorkie mix, remains missing.
An arrest affidavit says Harris was last seen alive July 2 leaving an Uptown hospital with Long after visiting her sister, and last spoke with her grandmother that night. Detectives cited cell-phone records, neighbor camera footage of Long and another man leaving with the dog, blood in Long’s home and vehicle, a recovered firearm, and a witness who said he saw a body matching Harris’s description in Long’s residence. A cadaver dog located the remains. CMPD; Mecklenburg County courts.
A missing-person case is now a charged homicide with remains in the woods and a no-bond order. That is still an allegation.

Brazille Held in Memphis After Park Shooting
Tyronne Brazille, 50, is being held in Tennessee as a fugitive after Memphis police stopped him for a traffic violation on August 13 and found Lanessa Bradford, 50, dead of a gunshot wound in the passenger seat. Baton Rouge Police say the pair argued at Independence Community Park, 7500 Independence Blvd., that Brazille shot Bradford, then drove through several states. He is awaiting extradition to Louisiana, where police say he will face a murder charge. He is presumed innocent. Some local accounts spell the last name Bazille. Court records show the couple married in 2003. Bradford worked at Melrose Elementary.
Colleagues requested a welfare check after she missed work. Mental-health claims in secondary writeups have not been confirmed by police and stay off this card. Baton Rouge Police Department; Memphis Police Department.

Woman Stabbed in Brooklyn Park
NYPD officers responding about 12:41 a.m. Tuesday to a dispute in Lincoln Terrace / Arthur S. Somers Park, at Rochester Avenue and Eastern Parkway on the Crown Heights–Brownsville border, found a 30-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead. Police were seeking a shirtless man in gray sweatpants last seen fleeing northbound on Rochester Avenue. No arrest had been announced. The victim’s name had not been released pending family notification and is withheld here.
Crime-scene work focused on park benches and a grassy area with scattered personal belongings. The 77th Precinct is handling the case. Relationship between the parties was not public in this window. New York Police Department.
