Manslaughter BDSM Case “Unsuitable” For Pursuit
In a bizarre and lurid twist, prosecutors have deemed a manslaughter case “unsuitable” for pursuit against a defendant who stands accused of brutally beating another man to death in the midst of a drug-induced bondage escapade. This macabre incident unfolded within the confines of a garage apartment, a veritable chamber of carnal curiosities, replete with a profusion of sex toys.
The grim tableau, as described in court records, portrayed a hapless victim ensnared in the sinister trappings of the occasion. Bound, gagged, and shrouded in a black leather mask, the victim was clad in an ensemble of fetish garments, their purpose and significance left to the dark recesses of the imagination.

The spotlight initially shone upon the arrest of Bryant Demelo, a 35-year-old individual whose name became synonymous with the salacious affair. Florida investigators unveiled this sordid episode to the public earlier this year. However, the subsequent revelation that the case was being cast aside remained conspicuously absent from any official press release and drew no discernible attention from the media’s probing eye.
In a cryptic legal move, a succinct “No Information” notification was dispatched to the court by an assistant state attorney. The rationale behind this declination, as elucidated in the message, was to expunge records and liberate the subject’s bond. However, the veil of secrecy remained intact as prosecutors opted for radio silence, offering no further insights into the enigmatic choice to jettison the felony charge.
As we doggedly pursued the truth, our quest led us to the chambers of the court, where officials, known for their languorous pace, had only just completed a painstaking task. After months of deliberation, a redacted version of the arresting affidavit, replete with harrowing details, finally saw the light of day. It laid bare the incriminating case against Demelo, accusing him of the grisly slaying of Todd Reade, a 43-year-old management consultant, a somber episode etched in the annals of September 2022.
In his fervent defense, the image of Demelo, as depicted above, projected an unyielding stance. He staunchly contended that his actions were rooted in self-preservation. He professed an overwhelming fear of grievous harm when recounting the chilling moment Reade clamped down on his nether regions, adamantly refusing to release his vice-like grip.
“Stop Biting, Open Your Fucking Mouth”
Demelo stated that he instructed Reade to, “Stop biting, open your fucking mouth“. According to Demelo’s statement to the police, he was unable to determine what specifically caused Todd to bite his penis. However, he speculated that it could have been influenced or caused by the methamphetamine that Todd had consumed rectally before engaging in oral sex on the ottoman. When asked if Reade made any unusual noises before the incident, Demelo responded that Reade was making, “appropriate noises for my dick being in his mouth.”
The court affidavit describes Demelo as a veteran who retired from the military with PTSD. Despite that diagnosis, Demelo said he “feels he has a healthy mindset.”
Bondage Harness, Leather Collar, And Wrist Restraints.

Reade, a Canadian who divided his time between Florida, was discovered deceased on a ottoman covered with a garbage bag in a residence in Kissimmee, a city located 20 miles south of Orlando. Reade, who was wearing a mask, was found in a bondage harness, leather collar, and wrist restraints. According to the police, there was blood on the carpet beneath him and a nearby large black dildo.
A search of Reade’s iPhone uncovered text messages in which Demelo consented to “sexual favors for money.” The phone, used to record their sexual encounter, stored videos and images displaying Reade (pictured above) wearing a bone-shaped gag while Demelo wore a dog mask, a silver chain with a bone pendant, and a purple and yellow cock ring.
The phone also included a text message from Demelo to Reade that was sent a few hours after Demelo left the victim bloodied and unconscious in the apartment.
“Yo I’m so sorry man…You almost bit my cock off and I couldn’t get you off me,” Demelo wrote. “I got scared and had to get you off some how…Lmk know youre alright pls. U were sleeping when I left.”
Attempted To Live Stream “Sex-Capade”
Demelo told police he met Reade “through the internet on a site for sexual deviants” and arrived at the victim’s apartment with methamphetamine (some of which he later injected into Reade). The duo’s four-hour “sex-capade,” Demelo said, was “sweet,” adding that they “attempted to live stream the encounter but encountered difficulties.”
Before departing the apartment, Demelo – who knew Reade was unconscious – said he “collected his various sex toys from the living room and bedroom,” but “may have accidentally taken some sex toys and props belonging to Todd.” Demelo left without rendering aid to Reade or summoning medical assistance, investigators noted. “Todd ultimately passed away as a result of his encounter with Bryant,” the arrest affidavit alleged.
“Blunt Force Trauma To The Head”
A coroner’s report concluded that Reade’s cause of death was strangulation, with “blunt force trauma to the head” listed as a significant condition contributing to his demise.
Demelo, a resident of Orlando, was apprehended in January at a shopping mall. Following the arrest, a search was conducted and it is reported that a Ziploc baggie containing methamphetamine was discovered during a frisk. As a result, Demelo faced an additional felony drug charge alongside the existing manslaughter count.
While the manslaughter prosecution has been dropped, the narcotics possession case–to which Demelo has pleaded not guilty–remains active. During a late-August court hearing, a judge ordered Demelo to obtain new counsel since the jurist had granted his prior lawyer’s motion to withdraw due to “irreconcilable differences” between himself and Demelo.
Faces An Ongoing Narcotics Possession Case
Although the manslaughter prosecution against Demelo has been dismissed, he still faces an ongoing narcotics possession case. Despite pleading not guilty to the charges, Demelo was ordered by a judge during a court hearing in late August to find new legal representation. This decision came after his previous lawyer’s motion to withdraw from the case was granted due to “irreconcilable differences” between them and Demelo.
Free on $3000 bond, Demelo’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, October 11.
